Roll Taps for Sheet Metal Working

As soon as internal threads are manufactured in sheet metal working, the tool of choice is the roll tap. In contrast to classic thread cutting, roll tapping is a completely chip-free process.

The forming tools use the processed material's flowing properties to form the internal thread. Accordingly, not only is there no need to remove chips, they also cannot be dragged along on the production lines of the sheet metal operation.

This characteristic, combined with long tool life and process reliability, define the roll taps of the DURAMAX family from Bass. Special geometries enable their use in a very wide range of materials including steel and stainless steel, but also in brass or copper.

From tapping units to conventional machining, the roll taps from the German manufacturer are suitable for every application. Special connections for brands such as Trumpf or Amada are available as standard.

The taps of the DURAMAX family stand for high cutting speeds and long tool lives. BASS customers have access to a broad catalogue programme for sheet metal processing as well as to individual solutions precisely tailored to the specific application. For example, every tool can also be manufactured with internal coolant supply and radial coolant outlet or optimised for the use of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL).

In addition, the tool manufacturer supplies the roll taps in the preferred batch size. Unlike other companies, there are no fixed packaging sizes.

As a specialist in internal thread machining, BASS is not only there to help with the selection of the optimum product for the individual application. The technicians support the processes at the customer, shows potentials in the machining and accompanie the series production.
